Simón Hurtado Delgado

Team Leader on International Civic Space

Simón is the Team Leader on International Civic Space and Rise Coalition Leader at Rights & Security International (RSI). Before joining RSI, Simón performed in various roles in the anti-trafficking sector, where he developed a great understanding of the complex events shaping the migration flows to Europe.

Previously, Simón worked with a number of public institutions in Venezuela, serving as a Senior Researcher and Human Rights Advocate at the Ombudsman Office for over two years. In addition, he has over ten years of experience campaigning for human rights in various contexts with social movements claiming the right to the city, women’s rights and food sovereignty. Simón is passionate about the intersection of human rights and social justice in local contexts.

Simón holds a BA in Sociology (2011) from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He is a Chevening scholar with an LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice from the University of York (2018).
