Joanna Doherty is the Development Officer at Rights and Security International. She is passionate about both supporting those facing injustice and inequality and protecting their human rights, with a particular interest in promoting gender equality.
She co-founded the Happy Baby Community (which supports pregnant women and mothers with young children seeking asylum in the UK) and previously spent 4 years building and developing the charity’s strategy and operations, as well as working on the front-line supporting new mothers.
She holds a BA from the University of Cambridge, two MScs from the University of Oxford, and qualifications from the University of Worcester in counselling skills and supporting parents.
In addition to her work at Rights and Security International, she currently works for the community organisation Feeding Support in East Surrey ( providing postnatal community and infant feeding support to new mothers), as an NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor and as an Expert Volunteer for Rape Crisis (England and Wales).
